Because of his sympathy for Gaza
A parliamentarian calls for the expulsion of Bayern Munich’s Moroccan player Mazraoui from Germany

An opposition parliamentarian called for the expulsion of Bayern Munich’s Moroccan player, Noussair Mazraoui, from Germany, while the head of the Central Council of Jews urged the club to take stricter measures towards the player, who posted tweets on social media in support of Gaza.

A politician from the Christian Democratic Union Party called for Mazraoui to be expelled from the team, as German Parliament (Bundestag) MP Johannes Steininger wrote on his account on “X”: “The club of Kurt Landauer, the club that the Nazis called the ‘Jewish Club’ cannot leave things that way. Dear Bayern Munich: Please expel him immediately. In addition, all state options must be used to expel him from Germany.”

In the same context, the head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Joseph Schuster, expressed his desire to take more strict measures against the Moroccan player.

In statements to the German newspaper “Süddeutsche Zeitung” published on Tuesday, October 24, Schuster called for “clearly severe consequences towards the player,” adding that Bayern Munich must ensure “that this type of deviation (from the path) is not repeated.” ., according to the “Deutsche Welle” website.

The Bayern Munich administration did not punish Mazraoui after holding a detailed and clarifying conversation with him, as stated in a club statement last Friday. The Moroccan defender returned to participate in Bayern Munich training after recovering from a muscle injury, and after the controversy sparked by his post.

Gaza has been subjected to daily Israeli bombing for two weeks, killing about 6,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, following a bloody attack launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” on Israel, which has occupied the Palestinian territories for 56 years.

Moroccan defender Nassir Mazraoui had posted on Instagram a small clip containing a prayer saying: “Oh God, help our oppressed brothers in Palestine until they achieve victory. Oh God, have mercy on the dead and heal the wounded,” as the waving Palestinian flag appeared in the clip.

In addition to Mazraoui, other players in the Bundesliga were also criticized for their sympathetic posts with the Palestinians in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Among these players is the Tunisian Issa Al-Aidouni, the midfielder for the German club Union Berlin, and the Dutch of Moroccan origins, Anwar Al-Ghazi, who plays for the German club Mainz, in addition to Darmstadt’s player of Albanian origin, Klaus Ghiasola.

It is noteworthy that Moroccan international football player Noussair Mazraoui moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Bayern Munich in 2022 and has a contract with Bayern until 2026. He was one of the players who shone with the Moroccan national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and reached the semi-finals of the World Cup.
